Head of Information Technology

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer.

Business Function: Information Technology (IT)

To oversee all IT (Information Technology) functions in our company. The job holder will be responsible for leading the IT team in ensuring IT systems are effective and functioning within the limits of budget, time, and specifications of the company.


  •  Oversee all technology operations and evaluate them according to established goals and standards.
  • Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management.
  • Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs.
  • Purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software
  • Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to management
  • Coordinate, supervise and guide employees in their roles.
  • Control budget and report on expenditure
  • Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts
  • Discover and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage
  • Supervise system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Build quality assurance and data protection processes
  • Document all IT processes and regularly update them to ensure they remain relevant
  • Monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance
  • Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
  • Plan disaster recovery drills and strategies
  • Communicate technology strategy to the board, management and key stakeholders as applicable.


  • Proven experience as a HOIT or similar leadership role
  • Knowledge of technological trends to build strategy
  • Understanding of budgets and business-planning
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software),Data warehousing, architecture and networking
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and technologies

  •  BSc/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field; MSc/MA will be a plus
